The Creators
Camille: The Story is a collective creation developed by Audrey-Anne Bouchard, Joseph Browne, Marijoe Foucher, Laurence Gagnon Lefebvre, Laurie-Anne Langis, and Marc-André Lapointe.
Audrey-Anne Bouchard - INITIATOR OF THE PROJECT, PLAYWRIGHT AND DIRECTOR
Audrey-Anne Bouchard is an interdisciplinary artist. Since 2008, she has been working as a lighting designer in the dance and theater sectors in Montreal and internationally. Her versatility and her interest in the collective creation artistic process also led her to explore the mechanics of stage direction. Inspired by her situation as a person living with a visual impairment, she initiated the research project Au-delà du visuel in 2016 to reflect on the possibility of creating and communicating dance and theater for a blind audience. She and her team developed the shows Camille : un rendez-vous au-delà du visuel presented in 2019 at the MAI as well as Camille : le récit presented on tour in various Maisons de la culture in Montréal. For Camille, Audrey-Anne received the Monique Lefebvre Universal Accessibility Award presented by AlterGo to a person who has made an exceptional contribution to the deployment of cultural accessibility. As a consultant, Audrey-Anne is a member of the expertise committee of the Chantier en Accessibilité Universelle for the city of Montreal and of the advisory committee on universal accessibility of the Conseil des arts de Montréal. Since 2015, she is also a production mentor at the National Theatre School of Canada.

Marc-André Lapointe - PLAYWRIGHT AND PERFORMER
A graduate of the acting program at the National Theatre School of Canada (2010), Marc-André Lapointe is involved in several film and theatre projects. He was in the cast of Jeanne Leblanc's first film (One Night With You) and the thirteenth edition of Les Zurbains (Théâtre Le Clou). In 2018, he graduated from the École supérieure de théâtre de l'UQÀM where he obtained his degree in theatre studies (playwriting profile, under the supervision of Isabelle Leblanc and Geneviève Billette). In recent years, he has collaborated with the École de travail social de l'UQÀM, Audrey-Anne Bouchard/Au-delà du visuel, Théâtre Témoin, Les Voyagements - Théâtre de création en tournée, the SPEC du Haut-Richelieu, and the MRC Pierre-De Saurel as an actor, playwright, scriptwriter, and cultural worker. He also teaches theatre at the Cégep de Sorel-Tracy.

ALEXIS DIAMOND - ENGLISH TRANSLATOR
Alexis Diamond is an Anglophone theatre artist, opera and musical librettist, translator, dramaturg, and theatre curator working on both sides of Montréal’s linguistic divide. Framed by her background in playwriting and shaped by her close proximity to Québécois dramaturgy, Alexis’ process-based, collaborative practice is grounded in extensive documentary research and in-studio exploration. Her playful yet profound work examines the mental constructs of landscape and language, longing and belonging, while interrogating the very construction of the narratives that alternately guide and bind us. Her award-winning plays, operas, and translations for audiences of all ages have been presented across Canada, in the U.S. and in Europe. She was a finalist for the 2020 Governor General’s Award for her translation of Pascal Brullemans’ plays for young audiences, Amaryllis and Little Witch (Playwrights Canada Press).

Laurie-Anne Langis - ChorEOGRAPHER AND PERFORMER
Since her graduation from the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal (2012), Laurie-Anne Langis has collaborated with several established and emerging artists in Quebec and internationally. Influenced by ancestral practices, she studies healing techniques, meditation, martial arts, voice work and yoga. Since 2016, Laurie-Anne has created the plays Camille : un rendez-vous au-delà du visuel and Camille : le récit with director Audrey-Anne Bouchard. Moreover, she is trained in audio description and guides dance workshops for people living with visual impairments. She also collaborates with several artists on the reappropriation of their bodies and the “empowerment” of the feminine. Committed, she questions the limits of dance that is seen/looked at and develops a meditative experience combining her various expertises.

Marijoe Foucher - CHOREOGRAPHER AND PERFORMER
Marijoe Foucher graduated from UQÀM in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in contemporary dance. Since then, she has developed her practice as a performer with several choreographers, including Emmanuel Jouthe, Anne-Flore de Rochambeau, Claudia Chan Tak, and Philippe Dandonneau. These collaborations have led her to perform at various festivals in Quebec and abroad. With a strong interest in interdisciplinarity and dramaturgy, Marijoe accompanies emerging creators as a rehearsal director and creative assistant in the Montreal dance and theatre scene. She is also involved with the company Dans son salon as a performer (Le Troisième été d’amour) and participates in the creation of video dance works. Laurence Gagnon Lefebvre - SET AND COSTUME DESIGNER
Laurence Gagnon Lefebvre set designer and art therapist is interested in the relationship between spectator and place. She explores the impact of space representation through models, installations, and cartography and integrates metaphor and playfulness in her artistic and therapeutical practice. She supports healing conversations to foster reflection, curiosity, and transformation from the artworks that emerge. Laurence is interested in cultivating cultural safety and wellness to continue this lifelong process of building an inclusive approach. Her sets and the material combinations she chooses to explore are conceptualized to honour the imperfections and contradictions we find in our environments. Her work is focused on different senses to go beyond aesthetics.

DIANA URIBE - ASSOCIATE SET AND COSTUME DESIGNER
Originally from Colombia and now based in Montreal, Diana Uribe has worked for over 25 years in the arts as a set designer, visual artist, and interior decorator. In 2000, she moved to the United States where, along with three other Colombian artists, she created Interrorism, an art movement that denounces violence and injustice in her native country. In 2011, she graduated from the Set Design program at the National Theatre School of Canada. An award-winning set designer working in both French and English, she creates spaces and costumes that evoke a metaphor for our environment. As an artist and a human being, she is aware of the footprint we leave and the importance of engaging in the exploration of ecological materials and renewed theatrical practices. Since 2015, she has been a regular teacher at the National Theatre School.

Joseph Browne - SOUND DESIGNER AND COMPOSER
Joseph Browne is a sound artist based in Montreal. His work encompasses sound design and composition for theatre as well as interactive design and digital music. In 2015, he received the CUSRA (Undergraduate Research Award) grant to develop research on audio spatialization methods for the performing arts. In 2016, he was nominated by the Montreal English Theatre Awards for his Outstanding Sound Design for the play Bar Kapra: The Squirrel Hunter by the company Scapegoat Carnivale. He studied electroacoustic composition at Concordia University where he worked as a research associate and technical coordinator of the Matralab research center. Since 2020, Joseph also works as a developer and artist for Moment Factory.

rob denton - ASSOCIATE SOUND DESIGNER AND COMPOSER
Rob Denton is a Montreal bred and based sound mixer, designer and composer. Highlights include a META (Montreal English Theatre Award) for sound design for Another Home Invasion in 2016. Since the inception of the METAs in 2013, Rob has been nominated for 9 awards over 7 years. In 2007, he was awarded Best Sound MECCA (Montreal English Critic’s Circle Award) for his work on the Montreal presentation of Satchmo’ Suite at the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts. His design for Small Mouth Sounds was named “Sound Design of the Decade” by Broadway World Magazine - Montreal. Last season, he joined the Au-delà du visuel team in the small audience adaptation of Camille : le récit.

PETER FARBRIDGE - PerFORMER
Peter is a theatre actor, dramaturg, and producer working between Montreal and Toronto. As a founding member of the Modern Times Stage Company in Toronto, Peter appeared in most of the productions, including the title roles in Macbeth and Hamlet. He has earned several Toronto Dora nominations and awards for his work with Modern Times. Peter has worked as an actor in film, TV, and theatre in Montreal both in English and in French. He was nominated for a Meta award in 2017. Peter also writes for theatre and for video and has directed several social documentary films. He currently directs the project Postmarginal: Inclusive Theatre Practice, which centres creative practice as the relational fluid between marginalities.

alexandra laferrière - Performer
Alexandra Laferrière is an actor, performer, and creator based in Montreal. She is a graduate of John Abbott College’s Theatre program and participated in Black Theatre Workshop’s Artist Mentorship Program. She is currently developing a project with the Creator’s Circle, an Imago Theatre residency. Alexandra wishes to develop transformative and challenging work, all with a bit of tongue-in-cheek. Some acting theatre credits include: Virginia Wolf (Geordie Theatre), Simone, Half & Half (Black Theatre Workshop), Miranda and Dave Begin Again (Gender Rubble Collective), The West Woods (Mulgrave Road Theatre, Nova Scotia), and Gas Girls (Black Theatre Workshop).

Sarah Leblanc-Gosselin - PerFORMER
A 2017 graduate of the Collège Lionel-Groulx's Professional Theatre School, Sarah Leblanc-Gosselin works as an actor, writer, and musician. As a performer, she was seen in Le Scriptarium at the Théâtre Denise Pelletier (Monique Gosselin); in Amsterdam, le théâtre musical, on tour in Quebec and at the TNM (Mélissa Cardona); in Camille : un rendez-vous au-delà du visuel at the MAI and on tour in Montreal (Audrey-Anne Bouchard); Tous les monstres ont disparu at the Botanical Garden (Philippe Boutin); Le temps d’une dinde (Théâtre du Portage). She is currently working on En crise, a text for young audiences by Annick Lefebvre (Talia Hallmona), and as a musician-performer on PAPERPLANE (Frédéric Bélanger). Sarah signed her first sound design for Le Scriptarium 2022. As a playwright, two of her pieces will soon be available at the CEAD archive centre.

JOAN WIECHA - PerforMER
Joan is an emerging actor based in Montreal. She made her professional theatre debut in the role of Lyne Harper in the Montreal Centaur Theatre and National Arts Center production of Innocence Lost, under the direction of Roy Surette. After landing parts in several Canadian television shows and commercials, Joan entered the Dawson Professional Theatre Program in Montreal where she immersed herself in the study and craft of the dramatic arts. She graduated from Dawson with the Beryl and Willie Moser Award for Outstanding Acting and the Garry Plaxton Award for exemplifying the qualities of dedication, generosity, and respect for the profession. She is very excited to be a part of the production of Camille and its redefining of the theatre experience.

sarah gagné - ASSISTANT DIRECTOR AND STAGE MANAGER
A 2021 graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada's Creation and Production program, Sarah has a keen interest in collective creation, multidisciplinary arts, dance and music. Since her graduation, she has been involved in several creative teams. She signed the sound design of the short film Les Animaux humains disent je t’aime by the Collectif de l’Autre forêt (summer 2020) nd conceptualized the lighting for the series of music shows organized by the Centre des musiciens du monde (summers 2020 and 2021) and for the Gala Coupe Ça Court directed by Isabelle Bartkowiak. She is also in charge of the sound and stage management for the tour of the show Neuf, written and directed by Mani Soleymanlou.

Étienne Mongrain-Vaillancourt - TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Étienne Mongrain is a graduate of the 2012-2016 cohort of the Option-théâtre program at Collège Lionel-Groulx in theatrical production, stage management, and technical profile. Since his graduation, Étienne has been working as a technical director/production and stage manager on various projects. He worked in 2017 as tour manager and stage manager for La Comédie Humaine (De Gélinas à Mouawad en passant par Tremblay), as touring technical director and sound manager forThéâtre Le Clou (Les Zurbains 2017, Le Scriptarium 2019), as touring technical director and sound manager for the Théâtre Le Clou (I Am William), and as technical director on Audrey-Anne Bouchard/Au-delà du visuel projects. He is currently assistant technical director at Théâtre Le Clou and co-artistic director of Collectif d'éphémères.

MAURICE ROY - ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION COACH
Maurice Roy worked as an actor and a director for some 20 years before moving on to translating. His translation work includes 18 plays to English and 7 plays to French. His translation of Shakespeare’s Love’s Labours Lost was nominated for a Masque award from the Académie Québécoise des masques. Since 1995, he also coached French-speaking actors and performers helping them with English pronunciation.
